Excel in Chinese: An Easy Starter 1 is designed for learners who don't know any Chinese. The textbook is divided into 10 lessons. According to the different emphases of teaching, these lessons can be divided into lessons on phonetic(1-2), lessons on Chinese characters(3-5), and comprehensive lessons(6-10). Owing to the particularity of Chinese phonetics characters teaching, the first five lessons concentrate on in-class practice, with in-class exercises following each language point as well as after-class and pre-class exercises. Lessons6-10 are comprehensive courses, which mainly consist of five sections: texts and new words; key points; exercises; characters, words and sentences; and Chinese culture.
