"Easy Steps to Chinese for Kids" is a Chinese language textbook series specifically developed for overseas non-Chinese primary school students, consisting of 4 volumes, each with two textbooks (a and b) and a CD. This series revolves around the stories of four primary school students from China and abroad: Ding Yi, Tian Li, Jing Jing, and Le Le. It uses exquisite illustrations, short sentences and dialogues, and beautiful songs to vividly cultivate students' interest in learning Chinese, making it easy for them to lay a solid foundation in Chinese learning, and to master Chinese knowledge such as numbers, basic strokes of Chinese characters, self-introduction, and everyday language. At the end of each volume, there are two pages specially designed for students with introductions to Chinese culture and colorful stickers, and the accompanying CD records each lesson and song. The author, Ma Yimin, holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature and a Master's degree in Education. She teaches at an international school in Hong Kong. She has been engaged in teaching Chinese to foreigners for many years and has been following the dynamics of the American AP Chinese program and the European IB Chinese exam for a long time. Her academic research involves English teaching, Chinese teaching, and educational psychology, and she has presented or published papers at international conferences on multiple occasions.
